What Is Project Wet?
Project WET in California receives funding through grants provided by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, California-Great Basin, and the U.S. Geological Survey, specifically from the California Water Science Center. Dedicated to global water education implemented at the community level, Project WET emphasizes the importance of spreading awareness about water-related issues.
It’s crucial to note that all Project WET materials are safeguarded by copyright, and any reproductions or alterations are subject to the Permissions Policy outlined by the Project WET International Foundation. What does the Water Education Foundation do?
The Water Education Foundation stands as the singular impartial entity dedicated to educating individuals about water-related matters in California and the Southwest.
It aims to serve as a comprehensive source for unbiased, in-depth information on critical topics such as drought, water rights, environmental restoration, and water quality. An annual contribution plays a vital role in supporting various initiatives, including the publication of Western Water news, a platform delving into pressing issues in California and along the Colorado River.
Additionally, contributions help in continually expanding Aquapedia, the online water encyclopedia, ensuring a growing repository of knowledge. Resources are allocated to maintaining the daily news update on Aquafornia, publishing new titles in the Layperson’s Guide series, and keeping existing guides up-to-date. With support, the Foundation embarks on the development of public television documentaries and educational videos that further contribute to awareness.
Funds contribute to organizing tours of key water sites in California and the Southwest, allowing participants to gain firsthand insights into these critical areas. Furthermore, special events organized by the Foundation are made possible through the generous contributions of supporters.
Crucially, the financial support received from contributors also fuels K-12 school programs, reaching over 200,000 students annually. By investing in the Water Education Foundation, individuals actively participate in the mission to disseminate accurate information, foster understanding, and cultivate a well-informed community dedicated to addressing water challenges in the region.
